Apr. 18th, 2006 04:31 amThe inevitability that comes with being active in a message board or a livejournal community is coming across people that have nothing better to do than be mean. Mean is such a useless thing to be. I'll admit I lash out with rude comments when insulted, but why would I do it without 'appropriate' justification? When someone posts an insult, generally towards a stranger, do they pause after hitting the send button and think to themselves, "Wow, I really zinged them."? Do they feel a sense of pride and accomplishment? Do they feel better about themselves? I assume they are not awash with guilt afterwards, since feeling guilt after making a petty and rude comment would be pointless, just as feeling pride at such an act would be pointless. Since both of the effects of random acts of rudeness are pointless, where does that leave the random act of rudeness?
This is not the first time I've found myself completely confused by the intricate petty details of human beings.
