I was watching a commercial for some miscellaneous prescription drug the other day, and the calm female voice-over was listing possible side effects including lymphoma, stroke, cancer, yadda yadda.... things they learned in clinical trials. How are they still getting people to do this? Sure the companies probably pay for the medical care of the participants of what I'm assuming is a voluntary expirement, but who cares if you're getting free care? If you're going to be one of the unfortunate people that develops lymphoma as a result of the medication, free medical care isn't going to seem that great.

I used to watch anti-depressant commercials, ones that were talking about Social Anxiety Disorder(SAD, now there's an ironic acronym)... and they would talk bout side effects including nausea, vomitting, diarrhea, etc. ..."I'm no longer afraid to be in crowds. Sure, I have wicked diarrhea, but the important thing is, I'm being social! THANKS Paxil!" ...luckily the only side effects I'VE encountered while on anti-depressants have been mental. O_o I don't want to take any medication that's going to ruin all my underwear. (ewwww...)

With the big story at the end of the year, the Tsunami, being discussed round the clock on the news stationsm (except of course when I'm looking for an update and nobody seems to be talking about it) I've heard all this talk of "Tsunami drills" or something like that in the US. It's like our country didn't want to be left out of the whole Tsunami excitement, so we're pretending it might happen to us in the next month or something...which... I hope it doesn't because that would be fucked up. So far it sounds like 220 mil worth of relief funds have been collected. This is not enough money. It's not enough money to rebuild the cities, or "dispose of" all the dead bodies washing up on beaches...(...yeah that can't be a plesant discovery for anyone...) Okay, so I'm not donating money. I'm selfish, blah blah. But my annual income is limited to student loans. There are veeeery rich people sitting in this country right now. Sports stars, movie stars, music stars, and the Bill Gates/Donald Trumps. How much money are they giving? They should all give 2/3 of their net worth and learn to live on a budget like the rest of us. These people really don't need to spend millions on clothing and cars every year. Do something good with your fortunes, people! I will too. ...if I ever you know...win the lottery like I'm planning on o__o;;
