Dazed and Confused
Oct. 5th, 2003 10:42 amI'm not quite sure why I'm awake right now. Not that 10:30-ish am wasn't a fairly late time to wake up, considering when I have to wake up now...it's just that I didn't go to sleep until 4am, so..I should have slept longer. Then again, if I sleep until noon or so, I'll have trouble going to bed early tonight, so it's all for the best.
Last night I cracked open one of the Advance Reader copies that my mom often brings me. They're usually young adult novels, which I guess makes me feel immature, seeing as I'm 19 and all, but I've always liked the sort of creativity and language that finds itself in many modern novels for teens, and this book that I peeked in was no exception. Very interesting story line, one of those stories that is told through letters and shit, but one of the characters was so thuroughly interesting that I wanted to see what happened next...and read over 200 pages in my room last night, before I realized that my head felt like it was feeling with some sort of dense excess liquid, signifying that I was tired and should sleep. Anyway, I'm not done with the book yet, but it's been very interesting, so I ask you younger, more teen-book inclined friends of mine to check out The Year of the Secret Assignments when it actually comes out. I'm sure it'll be fairly interesting, just like the uncorrected proof sitting in my room. I don't have the little insert card that says when the book is coming out though...my bad.

those are the only ones I can remember. They're all completely different books from each other, and I, Lucifer was a VERY interesting look at the inner thoughts of the fallen angel. ...It's got extremely salty language and drug use and sex though, so be advised that it's not so much for youngins...or...uh...puritans.
Anyhoo...there's one book I'm reading that isn't really aimed at kids, at least, although the author seems to go of on these HUGE tangents that almost lose me from time to time. I am of course talking about the The Short Stories of Fyodor Dostoevsky... poingiant shit, really. Very well set up character so far, but I'm only in the first short story right now, "White Nights"...

....Good lord I'm gonna stop now...to be honest the book-ness has been distracting me slightly from all the stupid yet upsetting shit I have on my mind.
